Seeing Your Ex in a Dream: Unfinished Business or a Warning?

Why Does the Ex Haunt Dreams?

Most of us immediately run to fortune-telling apps or Google as soon as we wake up and search "Does seeing my ex in a dream mean they are thinking of me too?". Sometimes yes (telepathic bonds are possible), but mostly the ex is a metaphor (symbol) your subconscious sends you about your current life.

Seeing Happy Memories (Early Times)

If you are very happy with your ex and hugging them in your dream, this is usually not because you want to return to them, but because of the "lack of romance, passion, and excitement" in your life. Your current relationship may have become boring, or if you are single, you may miss "those old passionate days". Your brain produces the chemical it seeks (oxytocin) using the ex's face.

Fighting or Seeing Yourself Cheated On

If you are repeatedly fighting with your ex in a dream, this is the "Unfinished Business" syndrome. The words you couldn't say to them, the anger left inside you (why did it end like this?) are still fresh in your subconscious. Your soul is trying to close that file (catharsis) by having the confrontation in the dream that you couldn't do while awake.

Seeing the Ex When Starting a New Relationship

The moment a new person enters your life, ex dreams increase. This is a warning system. Your subconscious brings your ex before you as a "lesson/template" saying: "Look, you made these mistakes in your old relationship, don't do the same with this new person".

The person who enters that dream is not your ex, but your "past" self. Forgive the past and be free.
