How Does Our Inner Child Reflect in Dreams?
While baby dreams represent "the birth of a new idea", seeing a (walking/running) child in a dream shows that that idea or relationship has now grown, become active, and requires responsibility. But most importantly, the child in the dream is that joyful, sometimes fearful "Inner Child" inside you that never grew up.
Joyful Children Playing
If you see children running with laughter and playing in the garden, it shows that you have shed your overly serious, stressful, and rule-oriented (adult) attitude in your waking life and started to enjoy life. Your soul wants to "play a little and have fun".
Seeing a Lost or Crying Child
Seeing a child lost on the street, looking for their mother, or crying symbolizes the "Helplessness and Loss of Direction" you feel in your adult life. You feel as inadequate and lost as that little child in a big issue you need to decide on. Hugging that child means comforting yourself (self-compassion).
Seeing Your Own Child as Young or as a Baby
If you see your child, who has grown up in real life, as a tiny child again in your dream, this represents that your parenting instinct prevails, the nostalgic sadness (empty nest syndrome) you experience as "How fast time passed, I cannot protect them like before".
