How Do Crystals Work? (Placebo or Science?)

The idea that an Amethyst you wear as a bracelet or a Quartz stone you put on your desk can change your life may just look like a "New Age" belief or a placebo effect from the outside. However, when we go down to the structure of crystals (especially quartz derivatives), we encounter a very interesting law of physics: The Piezoelectric Effect.

As crystals form in the heart of mother earth under magma and pressure for millions of years, they trap enormous energy inside them. Their atomic structures have a perfect geometric arrangement (crystal lattice network). This stable structure allows them to absorb the fluctuating and chaotic energy around them, store it, and radiate it back at a stable frequency. (This is why Quartz crystal is used to set the time and frequency in watches and radios). In short, when you are stressed (when your frequency is fluctuating) and you take a stable-frequency crystal in your hand, your body adapts (resonates) to the stable vibration of that crystal and calms down.

The 7 Chakras and Crystal Matchings

In our body, there are 7 main wheels (Chakras) that provide energy flow. Each chakra has its own color and its own vibration frequency. The colors of the stones also directly match the frequencies of these chakras.

1. Root Chakra (Trust, Grounding, Materiality) - Red / Black

If you constantly experience a fear of the future, cannot find money, or do not feel you belong to this world, your Root chakra is blocked. You need "Grounding" and heavy stones to balance this chakra.

• Obsidian and Black Tourmaline: They are volcanic glasses. They instantly absorb the radiation around you (phone, PC) and the negative evil eyes of people. It gives the person a feeling of "I am safe".
• Red Jasper: It is the stone of courage and endurance. It balances blood circulation.

2. Sacral Chakra (Sexuality, Creativity, Joy of Life) - Orange

If you cannot enjoy life, experience a drop in libido, or get blocked in creative projects, your Sacral chakra is weak.

• Citrine: It is the stone of money, abundance, and joy. (Actually, citrine works between the sacral and solar plexus). It disperses depression, pulls the sun inside you with its golden yellow energy. Citrine never holds negative energy, it cleanses itself.
• Carnelian (Agate): It gives the person incredible life energy (chi), passion, and motivation.

3. Solar Plexus (Self-Confidence, Willpower, Ego) - Yellow

It is located above our stomach. If you cannot say "No" to people, if your self-confidence is on the floor, and if you suffer from stomach aches, this chakra of yours has been blocked.

• Tiger's Eye: It is the most known stone that turns fear into courage. It teaches you to draw boundaries. Roman soldiers carried tiger's eye on them when they went to war.
• Pyrite: It is the stone of abundance, luck, and leadership. It teaches the person to stand tall.

4. Heart Chakra (Love, Compassion, Forgiveness) - Green / Pink

If you have been cheated on, are experiencing heartbreak, or cannot trust anyone, there is a giant wall in your heart chakra.

• Rose Quartz: It is the stone of love, romance, but most of all "Self-Compassion" (Loving oneself). It soothes broken hearts. If you put it under a pillow, it softens your dreams.
• Aventurine: It is the green stone of luck and heart healing. It makes the person open to new opportunities (new loves).

5. Throat Chakra (Communication, Telling the Truth) - Blue

If you cannot say what you think, swallow hard, or have thyroid problems, your throat chakra is locked.

• Lapis Lazuli: It is the stone of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs. It gives the person the ability to speak the truth fearlessly (power of oratory).
• Blue Lace Agate: It unties that knot in the throat in stressful moments, allowing you to establish calm and constructive communication.

6. Third Eye Chakra (Intuition, Clairvoyance, Wisdom) - Indigo (Navy Blue) / Purple

If you remain undecided, do not remember your dreams, and cannot read the signs of the universe, your third eye is closed.

• Amethyst: It is the "Aspirin" of the spiritual world. It is good for everything. It opens the third eye, soothes headaches and migraines, improves sleep quality, and strengthens psychic abilities (intuition).
• Fluorite: It is the focus stone. It gathers mental clutter, it is perfect for students and exams.

7. Crown Chakra (Divine Connection, Enlightenment) - White / Clear

When you question the purpose of life and disconnect from the feeling of universal wholeness (God), the crown chakra is weakened.

• Clear Quartz: It is the greatest healer (Master Healer) stone. It balances all chakras, strengthens (charges) the energy of other stones you put next to it. It closes the tears of your aura.
• Selenite: It is the stone of the angels. It washes both your aura and the room you are in with a divine white light. It is not put under water (it melts), it has the feature of cleaning itself and other stones.

How Are Stones Used and Cleansed?

Natural stones, just like people, get tired. You need to cleanse their energy at least once a month for them to benefit you. You can leave your stones under the moonlight, smudge them (Palo Santo/Sage), or bury them in the soil. And most importantly; when you first buy the stone, take it in your palm, bring it to your heart and whisper: "I invite you into my life to heal my body and soul." At that moment, the crystal awakens and starts working.
